摘要：<p>PURPOSE:To reduce a required memory area and to shorten a processing time by merging and expanding picture elements, which are included in an area where the quantization gradient is lower than a prescribed threshold, into one picture element area. CONSTITUTION:The analog picture signal obtained by optically picking up an object is digitized and is stored in a memory. In case of resampling of this picture data, picture elements included in the area where the quantization gradient of continuous picture elements is lower than the prescribed threshold are merged and expanded into one picture element area and the processing is performed. The quantized value of the start picture element, the gradient value, and data of the picture element length at this time are stored in the memory. Meanwhile, picture elements in the area where the quantization gradient exceeds the prescribed threshold are not merged, and they are processed while keeping the picture element constitution at the time of initial sampling as it is.</p>
