摘要：PURPOSE:To form a magnetic layer with ferromagnetic powder, a prescribed amt. of an abrasive material basing on the amt. of the ferromagnetic powder and a binder and to obtain a magnetic recording medium having high magnetic energy, capable of high output and hardly causing the generation of dust such as the dropping of powder or scraping. CONSTITUTION:A magnetic layer is formed on a nonmagnetic substrate with ferromagnetic powder contg. at least magnetic iron oxide powder, magnetic iron carbide powder or ferromagnetic metal powder having specified saturation magnetization and major axis size. A specified abrasive material may be incorporated into the magnetic layer. When an abrasive material having prescribed particle diameter and Moh's hardness is used, superior electromagnetic transducing characteristics are ensured and the magnetic layer becomes hard to peel from the substrate. One or more kinds of resins such as a vinyl chloride- vinyl acetate copolymer and epoxy resin are used as a resin binder and the amt. of the binder is regulated to a prescribed range basing on the total amt. of the ferromagnetic powder and the abrasive material.
