摘要：PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a sense of incompatibility from being imported to a driver by continuing follow-up control when accelerating by exceeding a control continuance judging vehicle speed higher than a preset upper limit vehicle speed, finishing acceleration operation from this acceleration state, and decelerating up to a preset vehicle speed when capturing a preceding vehicle. SOLUTION: Vehicle speed control operation processing has a judging vehicle speed arrival detecting means (S3), an acceleration operation state detecting means (S4), preferential deceleration control means (S5 to S12) and a vehicle speed control means (S13). For example, in a state of traveling at a constant speed of a preset vehicle speed VSET close to an upper limit vehicle speed VLMAX settable in a superhighway, a vehicle is put in an acceleration state by will of a driver, and is put in a state of capturing a preceding vehicle after one's own vehicle speed VS exceeds a control continuance judging vehicle speed VTH, and is put in a state of finishing acceleration operation (S4). Then, deceleration control for decelerating at a constant deceleration set according to a deviation between one's own vehicle speed VS and the preset vehicle speed VSET at that time is performed prior to vehicle speed control processing (S13).
