A draw winder for synthetic threads comprises a drawing roller 3, for stretching the filament threads from feed roller 2, and a thread relaxation apparatus disposed adjacent the drawing roller 3, which comprises a carrier 6 one end of which is pivotally mounted on the draw winder, a rotatable guide roller 4 mounted on carrier 6 adjacent the drawing roller 3, an auxiliary guide roller 8 mounted on carrier 6, and a heating element 7 mounted on the carrier between the guide roller 4 and auxiliary guide roller 8. The carrier 6 is pivotable with respect to the drawing roller 3 about an axis 10 substantially perpendicular with respect to a tangential plane between the drawing roller and the guide roller. The auxiliary guide roller 8 is preferably pivotable with respect to the heating element 7. As shown the draw winder has a plurality of drawing rollers 3 and thread relaxation apparatus. The base carriers 6, 6<SP>1</SP>, 6<SP>11</SP> are mounted to pivot as a unit on frame 9 about pivot axis 10. Thus an L-shaped rail 13 is secured to the lower position of the carriers and the flanges 14, 15 of rail 13 are deformable with respect to each other to form an angle of 90 degrees Œ (2-5 degrees) by means of a regulating means, which includes a rail 18, which is fixed to each carrier 6, 6<SP>1</SP>, 6<SP>11</SP> and at least two adjustment screws 17 connected with the rail and adjustably secured to the draw winder. The auxiliary guide roller 8 is pivotally mounted on the carrier with respect to the heating element about an axis passing near the upper end of the heating element.
