摘要：<p>1284793 Epoxy resins CELANESE COATINGS CO 8 April 1970 [12 May 1969] 16551/70 Heading C3B [Also in Division C2] Epoxy resins are obtained by curing with phthalic anhydride using diethylaminoethanol as catalyst, glycidyl esters of polycarboxylic acids obtained by heating to 115-200‹ F. a mixture of a polycarboxylic acid anhydride, which contains no other epoxide-reactive groups except, optionally, free carboxylic acid groups, an amount of an epihalohydrin equal to at least 2 mols per carboxy group (free or in anhydride form) and water amounting to the equivalent of the anhydride groups plus sufficient at least to saturate the epihalohydrin, an amine catalyst being incorporated before or during heating, continuing heating until a product of substantially 0 acid value is obtained and then dehydrohalogenating the halohydrin ester produced by gradual addition of an alkali metal hydroxide at 70-150‹ F. under reduced pressure to distill off water of reaction. Resins derived from diglycidyl phthalate, tetrahydro- and hexahydrophthalate are described.</p>
