摘要：<p>1283976 Seat belts JIM ROBBINS SEAT BELT CO 1 Oct 1969 [28 Oct 1968] 48358/69 Addition to 1265726 Heading A3V A seat belt retractor comprises a channel shaped support between the side walls of which is journalled a belt holding reel 46, biased by a spring 40 in a belt retracting direction, there being rotatable with the reel a pair of ratchets 56, 58 which are engaged by a locking pawl 80 a predetermined time after belt extension, and which pawl is caused to move to a non- locking position by the reel when the belt is retracted. The pawl is moved to the latter position by being engaged with a follower 90 provided with a pin 92 engaging a spiral track in a cam 72 rotatable with the reel. In said latter position an actuator is primed by depressing a wall thereof such that when the belt is next extended air will bleed into the actuator and after the predetermined time cause the wall to map out thus moving the pawl into engagement with the ratchet and preventing further extension of the belt. An overcentre spring 98 biases the follower away from both its extreme positions. The belt end is retained on reel 46 by a sleeve 52 which engages thereover and the spring 40 biases the reel by being fixed to the support at one end by way of a plastics bush retained on an axle 20 which mounts the reel and fixed at its other end to a further bush 32 rotatable about the axle and locked with the reel. The cam 72 is located with respect to ratchet 58 by tabs engaging apertures 76 in the ratchet with the ratchet located on sleeve 52 by way of tabs 66, 68, 70 engaging slots 60, 62, 64.</p>
