摘要：A recording/playback system using audio and/or video passages has a facility to introduce other effects based upon recorded control signals. For example, a normally recorded programme of music and/or video may be combined with lighting effects. In the case of a disc system (210) the normally recorded programme information (216) is separated from the control signal (214). An external control unit (220) allows the required control signal pattern to be written onto the disc. The control signals can be later read from disc and, in combination with a timer (280), can be used to activate a number of generators (244-1) for special effects.
