摘要:<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel alumina porous body which has a specific surface area of &ge;40 m<SP>2</SP>/g and a high strength of &ge;200 MPa and shows no decrease in specific surface area, pore size or strength by sintering even when heated for a long time, and its manufacturing method. <P>SOLUTION: In the method for manufacturing the highly heat-resistant/high-strength alumina porous body, a highly pure alumina powder with a diameter of 0.05-0.23 &mu;m is thoroughly mixed with a carbon powder with a diameter of 10-20 nm; alumina particles are sintered through pulse discharge sintering so that fused alumina particles form an alumina porous body wherein individual sintered particles are firmly bonded to each other; and carbon is removed through oxidation, thus giving the objective porous body. A highly heat-resistant porous member containing the alumina porous body as a constituent is provided. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI
