Connecting means for providing a detachable waterproof connection between a pipe 1 and a pipe 2 of smaller cross-section than the pipe 1, comprises an element 4 of resilient material, such as natural or synthetic rubber or a plastics material, having a peripheral portion engageable with the end of the pipe 1 and a member 3 adapted to form a snap fit with an external flange 8 provided on the pipe 1 to secure the element 4 against the end surface of the pipe. The element 4 comprises a continuous lip 5 adapted to engage the inner surface of the pipe 1, an aperture into which the pipe 2 can be inserted and an integrally formed collar 12 extending around the aperture, the collar being arranged to grip the pipe 2. As shown, the element is formed with collars 12, 12<SP>1</SP> each having internal ribs 14, and the member 3 has apertures which register with the collars and the peripheries of which are engaged by flanges 13, 13<SP>1</SP> of the collars; the member 3 has a rim 17 provided with internal spaced projections 9 which snap over the flange 8.</p>
