At this time, since the image forming apparatus moves the intermediate transfer belt 181 faster than during the image formation in which a toner image is formed on the photoreceptor drum 101a and then transferred onto the intermediate transfer belt 181, the image forming apparatus can quickly complete removal of a toner on the intermediate transfer belt 181 and start image formation using a recording material cassette 160B.
