摘要：<p>The device has an interface, and three weight sensors (SGW1-SGW3) which send signals over the interface. A processor receives the signals over the interface and determines weight class by considering stored data with the signals from the weight sensors. The device is coupled with another device for controlling a person protection unit (RHS) e.g. air bag, in such a manner that the device for controlling controls the protection unit depending on the weight class signal. The processor has a correlator that correlates the data with the signals for weight classification. An independent claim is also included for a method for weight classification of a vehicle occupant.</p>
