SOLUTION: A method for producing an aqueous pigment dispersion comprises following steps (1) and (2): a step (1) of obtaining a dispersion by dispersing a mixture containing a polymer having a salt forming group, an organic solvent having solubility of 50 pts.mass or less with respect to 100 pts.mass of water at 20°C, water, and a pigment, in a state where phases of the organic solvent and water are separated from each other; and a step (2) of dispersing the dispersion obtained by the step (1) into a homogeneous phase where the phases of the organic solvent and water are not separated from each other. !
