摘要：The present disclosure relates to an apparatus and a method for preventing a sudden unintended acceleration of a vehicle. The apparatus and the method for preventing a sudden unintended acceleration of a vehicle includes an electronically controlled throttle module (10) which controls opening/ closing of a throttle, a pedal position detecting part (20) which detects position of a accelerator pedal (21), a sudden unintended acceleration control unit (40) which is connected to an on-board diagnosis(OBD) device terminal (31), receives information on operational state a vehicle, determines whether a sudden unintended acceleration is made or not, and generates motor drive control signals to control the amount of intake air supply to the engine if a sudden unintended acceleration occurs, a signal selection unit (50) which selectively transmits a signal to the electronically controlled throttle module (10) after selecting signal from control signal of vehicle control unit (30) and motor drive control signals to adjust opening of throttle corresponding to an idle state. By utilizing information on operational state a vehicle transmitted through on-board diagnosis (OBD) device terminal, the present disclosure allows to determine whether erratic operation of vehicle controller and a sudden unintended acceleration are occurred, and prevents from accidents resulting from a sudden unintended acceleration by adjusting amount of intake air same as idle state.
