[Class 64(i)] [Also in Group XXVI] In a closed-cycle turbine plant using a gaseous medium, preferably air, which is heated in at least two stages, at least one of the stages takes place with approximately atmospheric pressure in the furnace chamber and at least one with higher temperature and with higher pressure in the furnace chamber; this minimizes the use of expensive heat-resisting materials, which are only required for the relatively small high-temperature stage, and also permits the use of low-quality fuels in the first stage. In the arrangement shown, air for supplying a turbine 8 is heated first in a solid-fuel furnace 1 and then in a closedchamber heater 3 using purified gas or liquid fuel; after leaving the turbine 8 the air is reheated in a furnace 10, similar to 1, and in the heater 3. The low-temperature heaters 1, 10 may be combined. The waste gases from the various heaters may be used for preheating fuel and/or air, and those from the high-temperature chamber may be passed into the lowtemperature furnaces.
