摘要：In an exhaust gas purification catalyst comprising noble metal, the amount of noble metal carried in an upstream portion of the carrier substrate of the catalyst on an upstream side in a direction of flow of exhaust gas is larger than the amount of noble metal carried in a downstream portion of the carrier substrate on a downstream side in the direction of flow of the exhaust gas. The amount of noble metal carried in the downstream portion is not less than an amount required for saturation of a purification rate of the exhaust gas in the downstream portion at the temperature of the exhaust gas flowing into the downstream portion. The temperature is the temperature of the exhaust gas when the exhaust gas having flowed into the upstream portion at a temperature of 168° C flows out of the upstream portion.
