[Also in Division C3] An expanded plastic sheet having a relief pattern chemically embossed thereon by the process of the invention (see Division C3) is laminated to a suitable substrate before or after expansion. Flooring materials may comprise a textile base laminated to a main supporting plastic sheet, which may be expanded or non-expanded, to which is laminated the embossed surface sheet. Wall and ceiling covering materials may comprise a paper, plastic or fabric base to which is laminated the surface sheet. The expanded sheet may be of polyvinyl chloride, rubber, polyvinyl acetate, polyethylene, polypropylene, acrylonitrile-butadiene rubbers, acrylonitrile-butadiene rubberpolyvinyl chloride blends, an acrylonitrilebutadiene-styrene resin or polyvinylidene chloride, admixed with azodicarbonamide and a salt or compound of a heavy metal, having had applied to its surface a pattern of a hydrazide of a dicarboxylic acid which causes non-uniform expansion on heating the sheet and thus the production of relief effects.
