摘要：<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a driving support information providing device which can provide accurate information regardless of an obstacle shape existing behind a vehicle until minimum necessary space for a tail gate of the vehicle to open/close comes to be unsecured. <P>SOLUTION: A driving support information providing device comprises: a rear area spatial coordinate derivation unit which derives spatial coordinates of a rear area from information of the rear area for a vehicle with a flip-up type tail gate; an obstacle detection unit which detects location of an obstacle existing in the rear area on the spatial coordinate; a nearest neighbor distance calculation unit which calculates the nearest neighbor distance that is a minimum distance between the obstacle and a tail gate opening/closing region in a three dimensional space by comparing the location of the obstacle detected by the obstacle detection unit with the tail gate opening/closing region through which the tail gate passes when the tail gate is opened and closed on the spatial coordinate; and an output processing unit which performs process to output information on the nearest neighbor distance. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT
