摘要：PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for efficiently producing an oxygen-containing cyclic compound useful as functional chemicals such as pharmaceuticals, agrochemicals and electronic materials.SOLUTION: Furans having same or different substituents on 2,5-positions, 5-membered lactones having substituent on 4-position and/or 2-cyclopentenones having substituent on 3-position are produced by reacting an aromatic compound with a 4-oxocarboxylic acid in the presence of a catalyst. A solid acid catalyst such as zeolite can be used as the catalyst, and the zeolite is preferably β-zeolite etc. The reaction is more efficiently performed by using microwave irradiation.
