摘要：A mechanical pencil has a chuck for holding a lead and a rotor (6) adapted to be movable in the rotational direction and the axial direction within a shaft tube (1). The rotor is rotated by axial movement thereof caused by writing operation, and the lead receives rotary motion. The lead can be advanced from the chuck by knock operation on a knock cover (26) placed at the rear end of the shaft tube. At any position in a knock operation transmission route from the knock cover to the chuck, a separation portion having a gap (G) for transmitting knock operation to the chuck and interrupting rotation operation is formed. Since the rotor and the knock cover are separated in the rotation direction, the problem of causing a failure in a rotation drive mechanism can be eliminated.
