摘要：A process for the preparation of alkyl aryl ethers from alcohols and aryl halides, usually as intermediates in organic synthesis. In a method, the mixing aryl halide and an alcohol is mixed with dimethyl sulfoxide, water, and a metal hydroxide to form a mixture and the mixture is heated to reflux. Additional steps may then be performed to provide for purification.
