摘要：A thermal cycling apparatus and process wherein at least one reaction vessel (14) is associated with a thermo-electric cooler (TEC) device (12), such as a peltier cell, arranged to provide both heating and cooling of the reaction vessel. One side of the TEC is associated with the said at least one reaction vessel (14) and the other side is arranged in use to be maintained at a temperature intermediate the highest temperature and the lowest temperature used in the thermal cycling operation. Electric current is supplied to the TEC in one direction whereby the said one side becomes- hotter than the said other side and then in the other direction whereby the said one side becomes cooler than the said other side.
