摘要:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide technique capable of compatibly improving performances of both the lightness of display (screen) and electric power of a multi-level display device by suitably controlling them according to video contents while preventing deterioration in picture quality of video. SOLUTION: In a multi-level processing unit 6 of the display device (PDP device), an image number detector 22 detects and decides the number of low-grayscale pixels of an image of an input video signal (VIN) (K1, K2) under subfield (SF) driving control, and a switching decision unit 24 decides and outputs a selection signal (SEL) for switching one of outputs of a plurality of kinds of SF conversion of an SF conversion unit 23 by a switching decision unit 24 according to the detection and decision result.
