摘要：<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device of which the contrast is improved. <P>SOLUTION: On a first substrate 10, a light absorption layer 12 is formed between a pixel electrode 11 and a liquid crystal layer 30. In the case that light is transmitted by the liquid crystal layer 30, the light incident from the liquid crystal layer 30 bypasses the pixel electrode 11 and the first substrate 10 and is absorbed in the light absorption layer 12, and reflection of the incident light on the interface is reduced. Thereby the contrast is improved. When the light absorption layer 12 is constructed with black particles and its surface is formed so as to take on a projecting and recessing shape, the incident light is irregularly reflected on the projecting and recessing surface and a mirror-finished surface like feeling of glaring is suppressed.
