摘要：<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus in which only the control of a function element in which abnormality occurs in the image forming apparatus is reset and the control of other function elements which are normally operated is prevented from being influenced. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus is provided with a main control means and a sub-control means for controlling a plurality of function elements for performing specific functions while communicating with the main control means. The sub-control means has software for controlling each function element in accordance with each function element and executes each software. The main control means includes: a detection means for detecting whether abnormality occurs in the function element or not by contents or a procedure for communicating with the sub-control means; and a software reset control means for instructing, by communication, the reset of execution of the software constituting the sub-control means determined to be abnormal when detecting abnormality. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
