摘要：PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the size of a driver. SOLUTION: The printer comprises a carriage 14, a print head 81, a platen 17, a gap roller 18 mounted on the carriage 14 and setting a head gap between the print head 81 and a print medium 20 on the platen 17, a means for detecting the end part of the print medium 20, and a carriage speed control section for limiting the scanning speed of the carriage 14 when it passes through the end part of the print medium 20. Since the scanning speed of the carriage 14 is limited when it passes through the end part of the print medium 20, viscous brake is reduced and a load being applied to a driving section can be reduced.
