摘要：PURPOSE: A polarization divider/synthesizer by using a side surface polishing optical fiber coupler including a metal layer is provided to connect the various devices or the systems with minimizing the connection loss by using an optical communication single mode optical fiber. CONSTITUTION: A polarization divider/synthesizer by using a side surface polishing optical fiber coupler including a metal layer(4) includes an optical fiber core(1), an optical fiber clad(2), a quartz block(3), a top input terminal(5), a bottom input terminal(6), a top output terminal(7) and a bottom output terminal(8). The polarization divider/synthesizer is characterized in that the metal layer(4) is formed on the intermediate layer after the side surface polished optical fiber is connected to the top layer and the bottom layer. The TM mode is reflected to the bottom output terminal(6) and the TE mode is reflected to the top output terminal(7) by projecting the light onto the top input terminal(5) of the side surface polished optical fiber.
