摘要：PURPOSE: A device for limiting TV watching in accordance with television broadcasting program grades is provided to recognize a 'grade display' shown in a received video signal by using an edge detection function and a video pattern detection function, and to control whether to permit or prohibit watching on a corresponding program based on recognized results, thereby permitting or prohibiting the watching according to a grade of the program. CONSTITUTION: A grade display video capture memory(304) captures a predetermined region(303) including a grade display(302) contained in a video(301) of a selected program, and stores the captured region(303). A grade recognizer(305) recognizes a corresponding grade of the grade display(302) stored in the memory(304) by using an edge detection function and a video pattern detection function. A microcomputer(306) carries out permission control or OSD processing functions by comparing the recognized grade with a grade set by a user. A grade memory(307) stores a password(307a) set by the user and set grade data(307b), and supplies the stored password(307a) and the data(307b) to the microcomputer(306). A remote controller(308) inputs the user's command to the microcomputer(306).
