摘要:PURPOSE: A mercury gas discharge device as a CCFL(Cold Cathode Fluorescent Lamp) is provided to operate under a larger operating electric current without affecting the device's operational lifetime and to obtain greater intensity and longer operational lifetime. CONSTITUTION: A mercury gas discharge device comprises an envelope, inert gas and mercury vapour(5) contained within the envelope. The mercury gas discharge device further comprises a pair of electrodes(1) and one or more sintered metal portions(11). One or more sintered metal portions(11) are also located inside the envelope. The sintered metal portions have high gettering characteristics with respect to waste gases, but low gettering characteristics with respect to the mercury vapour.
