摘要：Protecting surfaces from biological fouling when the surfaces are in contact with a liquid medium such as salt water or fresh water. The surfaces are protected by a coating comprises several layers. The layers include: a layer of electrically conductive carbon foil; and a top coating with special properties. The carbon foil is provided with an electrical contact. There is a counter electrode in the liquid medium by which a direct current can be generated to cause a shift in the pH value of the liquid layer adjacent to the surface.
