摘要：PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an occupant protector capable of mitigating damages incurred when an occupant is collided with a door in a side impact. SOLUTION: The occupant protector comprises a seat (2) connected at both ends of a seat belt (a shoulder belt 15, an armpit belt 17, a waist belt 19) for restricting the seated occupant and supported by a floor (4) in a movable manner in the vehicle width direction, a collision load inputting member (6) which is supported by the floor movably in the vehicle width direction, extended at one end thereof to the vicinity of a side sill (9), and has higher rigidity than that of at least the vehicle body (B) connected to the seat, and a braking means (a collapsible tube 7) for applying the force opposite thereto to the seat after moved to the center side of the vehicle body by the predetermined distance. By the collision load inputting member having higher rigidity than that of the vehicle body, the acceleration of the seat is raised earlier than that of the vehicle body in the beginning of the collision. Then, the speed (the acceleration) of the seat is set to be equal to that of the vehicle body by the braking means subsequent to the middle time of the collision as soon as possible. In addition, before the side of the vehicle body is collapsed into a cabin, the seat is moved to the center side of the vehicle body, and a space between the occupant and the vehicle body is expanded.
