摘要：PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To precisely replace only a weared paper feed roller having a limit of durability before an accident such as a jam due to abrasion of the paper feed roller in an image forming apparatus in which a paper feed roller unit is removably installed in the apparatus body. SOLUTION: In this image forming apparatus, the paper feed roller unit having the paper feed roller for transporting paper and a paper feed roller driving shaft for driving the paper feed roller integrated with each other is removably installed in the apparatus body. After the paper feed roller unit is inserted in the apparatus body, the use condition of the paper feed roller from the start of working is detected by providing the paper feed roller driving shaft with a new roller detecting mechanism for causing a new roller detecting means of the apparatus body side to detect that the paper feed roller is a new one.
