摘要：<p>A surgical catheter (10) for measuring pressures simultaneously in two cardiac chambers comprises an elongate flexible tube (11) having two juxtaposed discrete longitudinally extending lumens, (12, 17), including a first lumen (12) which extends from one (proximal) end (13) of the catheter to the opposite (distal) end (14) thereof and communicating with one or a plurality of holes or perforations (16) in the distal end of the catheter, and a second lumen (17) extending from or adjacent the proximal end to a position (19) adjacent to but set back the said distal end a predetermined distance relative to the distal end of said first lumen, wherein said second lumen communicates with one or a plurality of holes or perforations (20) in the distal end of the catheter separate to and distinct from the holes or perforations which communicate with the first lumen. The distal end of the catheter has a pigtail configuration (15) which can be straightened out by use of a removable guide wire to facilitate insertion into a surgical patient's heart chamber, wherein the distal end is able to assume its pre-set pigtail configuration when the guide wire is withdrawn.</p>
