摘要:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the degradation in visibility of map elements distant from a viewpoint which is caused by making a map stereoscopic and to reduce the load of plotting processing by converting shapes of map elements to be stereoscopically displayed in accordance with distances or the like from the viewpoint to map elements. SOLUTION: Map data of a building or the like existing in the periphery of the present position are read from a map database (step 501), and it is discriminated whether this map element is building data or not (step 502), and if it is a building, the three-dimensional shape of the map element is converted in building plotting processing in accordance with the distance from the viewpoint to the building, and plotting data are generated by projection conversion (step 505), and generated plotting data is stored in a RAM (step 506). After this processing is performed for all map elements, stored plotting data are rearranged in the order from data most distant from the viewpoint and are plotted over bird's-eye view map in the order of depth (steps 508 and 509).
