摘要：PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a ballast scraping machine which can easily inert its excavating tool into ballast which is solidly hardened with a load generated by passage of a vehicle, without requiring excavation of manpower, can sequentially carry out work, can enhance working efficiency, and can be miniaturized to carry out the work in a narrow field, and to provide a ballast scraping method. SOLUTION: A main frame 5 is attached to a rotary body 4c of an automotive truck 4. A ballast crushed stone scraping apparatus 6 which can excavate the ballast by its horizontal movement, is attached to the main frame 5 horizontally and in a cantilevered manner. Further, a driving apparatus 7 for driving the scraping apparatus 6 is attached to the main frame, as well. While the scraping apparatus 6 is operated, a rotating apparatus 4b is operated to rotate the scraping apparatus 6 together with the rotary body 4c, whereby the scraping apparatus 6 is inserted into a portion of the ballast 1. Thereafter, while the scraping apparatus 6 is operated, the automotive truck 4 is moved rearward, to thereby crushed stones at the portion of the ballast 1 are scraped to the outside of the track 2.
