摘要：A saddle post made of composite material has a lower cylindrical part for fitting into a saddle tube of a bicycle frame and an upper part with arms having a fixing device for attaching a saddle. In use the major surfaces of the arms are parallel to the direction of movement of the bicycle and the arms have a small front section to minimise air resistance. Independent claims are included for the following: (a) Manufacturing the above saddle post by assembling a preform from mechanically strong fibres where the upper ends of the arms are connected and a mandrel is used to build up the lower cylindrical part. The preform is placed in a mould and resin injected. (b) The above saddle post manufactured as in (a). Preferred Features: The post has two arms and the fixing device is a curved apertured plate bridging their ends. The upper end of the plate is convex.
