摘要：<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To purify a vinyl type monomer with readily separating a used catalyst and efficiently reducing mercaptan contained in the vinyl type monomer by bringing a mercaptan-containing vinyl type monomer into contact with a specific catalyst in the presence of a molecular oxygen in a liquid phase. SOLUTION: (A) A mercaptan-containing vinyl type monomer is brought into contact with (B) a calcium chloride catalyst or a mixed catalyst of calcium chloride and copper oxide in the presence of molecular oxygen in a liquid phase to purify the vinyl type monomer. The purified vinyl type monomer is preferably separated by distillation. The mixed catalyst is preferably used as the component B. In this case, since a very small amount of copper is sometimes contained, preferably copper is extracted with an amine-based compound (e.g. triethylenetetramine). Consequently the purification method capable of efficiently reducing mercaptan and readily separating the catalyst can be provided.</p>
