摘要：PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the grinding efficiency by disposing a grinding member equipped with a grinding wheel formed by solidifying colloidal silica, as a grinding means. SOLUTION: A semiconductor wafer W is positioned so that its outer periphery comes into contact with a grinding wheel 19, a suction part 14 is rotated by a driving source 15, a grinding member 16 is rotated by a driving source 17, and the semiconductor wafer W and the grinding wheel 19 are mutually rotated in the directions opposite to one another to grind the outer periphery of the semiconductor wafer W by the grinding wheel 19. The grinding wheel 19 is obtained by solidifying colloidal silica, and the fine silica particles are uniformly dispersed, so that the mirror finish grinding of low surface roughness can be achieved. As the grinding wheel 19 is formed of hard and fine silica particles, the grinding efficiency can be improved remarkably.
