摘要：<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance a recording and reproducing performance by allowing a magnetic tape device to have a reference surface with which the positioning between a magnetic tape and a magnetic head is performed and plural sensors to be provided on the reference surface and detecting signals of the sensors to perform the positioning between the magnetic tape and the magnetic head with high accuracy. SOLUTION: A magnetic tape transportable mechanism 11 pushes a magnetic tape 102 against the reference surface. When the magnetic tape 102 is brought into contact with the reference surface, three sensors 14 fitted to the reference surface operate respectively to make detection signals active respectively. A control circuit 10 which receives the report that a loading operation is completed positions a magnetic head 13 to a recording and reproducing starting position being on the magnetic tape 102 while reproducing a pattern being on the tape 102 with the magnetic head 13. When the report that the loading operation is completed is not present even when a fixed time is elapsed from the time when the loading operation of the magnetic tape transportable mechanism 11 is completed, the circuit 10 instructs the unloading operation of the magnetic tape 102 to the mechanism 11 and makes the mechanism 11 repeat the reproducing and loading operations again.</p>
