摘要：PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an efficient color projection display device by splitting an illumination beam to plural luminous flux of different wavelength bands with a reflection type liquid crystal and a dichroic polarizing beam splitter, making them incident on a liquid crystal panel at mutually different angles and generating a color image. SOLUTION: The illumination beam (white luminous flux) from a white light source 1 is made incident on the dichroic polarizing beam splitter 7 as the white luminous flux of only S polarization. Then, it is splitter to three primary colors by surfaces of B, R, G, and transmit through a lens element 8 to be converged on respective pixels on the reflection type liquid crystal 9. The luminous flux reflected here transmits again through the lens element 8 to be made incident on the dichroic polarizing beam splitter 7, and only the luminous flux of P polarization, that is, the luminous flux reflected by the on pixel of the reflection type liquid crystal 9 transmits through the splitter 7, and is made incident on a projection optical system 11 to be image projected.
