SOLUTION: Regarding an image display device equipped with a display means for showing an image including characters and graphics, and an image- display control means for showing an image in a reduced or an enlarged state, the image display control means applies a reduction or an enlargement process to a drawing zone as an object, after identifying the zone where characters or graphics are not drawn actually, at the time of reducing or enlarging an image. In other words, a drawing zone 902 is extracted from an original image 901 for identifying a blank zone. Thereafter, a reduction or an enlargement process takes place for the indication of an image, thereby alleviating the degree of the defacement of a reduced image, and enlarging and showing a necessary image for easy observation.
