摘要：PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To speedily generate an alarm indication signal(AIS) cell by mapping the information of fault on a physical layer to an empty cell in a main signal cell stream inside a network device when that fault is detected inside a physical layer terminal part and generating the AIS cell based on that mapped fault information. SOLUTION: When any physical layer fault is detected, a physical layer terminal part 10 maps and outputs this fault class information to the header area of empty cell. At an AIS cell sending part 11, this empty cell is detected, the AIS cell is assembled from the fault class information, and fault position information is mapped to the AIS cell as well. This fault position information is an identifier for identifying a device, which detects the fault, and further identifying respective components in the device, and is stored in the AIS cell sending part 11 while previously assigning a peculiar number to the device. Thus, the AIS cell can be speedily generated after the detection of physical layer fault.
