摘要:PURPOSE: To develop a surface-modified whisker having excellent properties as a reinforcement of Al alloys by adhering Na salt on the whisker surface followed by baking. CONSTITUTION: The whisker of aluminum borate is dispersed in 5% solution of NaCl to adhere NaCl to the whisker surface, and the whisker is filtered and separated from the NaCl solution. After the obtained whisker is dried in the atmosphere and baked at a high temperature such as 1100 deg.C, NaCl 14 is adhered to the surface of the whisker 5 so as to develop the surface- modified whisker to keep excellent mechanical properties even when a hot working is executed thereto. A formed body 6 of this whisker is placed in a container consisting of side dies 8, 9 and a lower die 7, and a molten Al alloy 11 is poured therein, and pressed with a punch 10 to solidify the Al alloy as an Al alloy composite body. Thus, a whisker reinforced Al alloy composite material having excellent properties as mechanical parts excellent in mechanical strength and used at high temperature is obtained after its solution treatment, hardening and aging treatment.
