摘要：PURPOSE: To detect errors on a tape and effectively correct them by permitting a tape driving device to rewrite the block into a next block when the block is judged to be abnormal. CONSTITUTION: The data blocks N, N+1, N+2... of the tape 10 usually have equal sizes. Gap areas between the data blocks are made small and data are recorded by the bit pattern of high density. The tape driving device detects the 'abnormal' block on one point on the tape 10, namely, on the tape 10 or the block containing dust on the head of the tape driving device during a write operation. The tape driving device usually rewrites the block into the tape 10. When the block N+1 is judged to be abnormal, the driving device rewrites the N+1 block into the next block.
