摘要：PURPOSE:To make definite recovery available for performance of ink ejection for an ink jet recording head and to provide adequate means for running-out of the ink during the process of the recovery. CONSTITUTION:A capping member 8 for sealing the front face of a recording head, a remaining ink judging means 52 for judging the amount of remaining ink in an ink container and a blade member for physically wiping the front face of the recording head 1 are provided. Recovery of ink ejection performance is made by operations of wiping, ink-sucking and flushing, and the amount of remaining ink is watched with the remaining ink judging means 52 while the recovery operations are executed. In the case where the amount of remaining ink comes below a specified level, the ink-sucking operation is stopped and at the same time, the recording head 1 is sealed up with the capping member 8 after the flushing and the wiping are operated.
