摘要：PURPOSE:To decide a suitable gradation processing condition without being affected by a photographic part by deciding the gradation processing condition based on the feature amount of a picture data in one of two picture areas divided by the symmetrical axis of a radiograph which is almost linearly symmetric. CONSTITUTION:A symmetric axis recognizing means 20 recognizes the symmetric axis of the almost linearly symmetric radiograph to be formed corresponding to the quantity of transmitted radial rays to be transmitted through an object, and a condition deciding area selecting means 21 selects one area for deciding the gradation processing condition from the two picture areas to be divided by the symmetric axis. A feature amount detecting means 22 calculates the feature amount of the picture data on one selected picture area, and a gradation processing condition deciding means 23 decides the gradation processing condition based on this feature amount. In this case, a gradation processing means 24 executes the gradation processing of the radiograph based on the decided gradation processing condition. Thus, even when there is a disease in one lung or a pace maker exists, the gradation processing is enabled by deciding the suitable gradation processing condition without being affected by these signal levels.
