摘要:PURPOSE: To measure a loss in an arbitrary first light-conductor by jointing the first and the second light-conductors so that a minimum air gap is formed and measuring the energy of pulses reflected at the air gap. CONSTITUTION: Light pulse for inspection is outputted to the first light-conductor 4, and an energy N1 of the pulses reflected an the output end face of the first light-conductor 4 is measured. The first and second light-conductors 4 and 5 are jointed together so that a minimum air gap is formed, and further, an energy N2 of the pulses reflected at an air gap positioned between the first output end face and the input end face of the second light-conductor 5 is measured. Further, an energy N3 of the pulses reflected on the output end face of the second light-conductor 5 is measured, and from an equation 2μl2 =2ln (Nn -N1 )-ln N1 -ln N3 (where, l2 is a length of the second light-conductor), a light reflection loss at the second light-conductor 5 is obtained.
