摘要：PURPOSE:To prevent the reaction of an electrolyte with a cathode by interposing an intermediate layer composed of a thermally stable oxygen ion conductor non- reactive with both of the solid electrolyte and the cathode between the solid electrolyte and the cathode. CONSTITUTION:An anode 2 based on platinum is provided on one surface of an oxygen ion conductive solid electrolyte 1 (hereinafter, referred to as a solid electrolyte) and a cathode 4 composed of perovskite type composite oxide represented by general formula Ln1-xAxCo1-yMeyO3-delta (wherein Ln is at least one element selected from La, Ce, Pr and Nd, A is at least one element selected from Sr, Ca and Ba, Me is at least one element selected from Ni, Fe, Mn, Cr and V, 0<=x<=1, 0<=y<=1 and delta is oxygen omission quantity) is provided to the other surface thereof and electrode lead-out terminals 5, 16 are provided on the aforementioned anode 2 and cathode 4 and, further, the outer peripheral end surface of the laminar structure consisting of the aforementioned anode, the solid electrolyte and the cathode is sealed in a gas impervious state by a sealant. In the element thus formed, an intermediate layer 3 composed of an oxygen ion conductor thermally stable and non-reactive with both of the solid electrolyte and the cathode is interposed between the solid electrolyte and the cathode.
