摘要：NEW MATERIAL:A compound expressed by formula I (R<1> is pyridyl; R<2> is H, alkyl or hydroxyalkyl; R<3> is H, OH or alkyl; R<4> is aryl which may be substituted by alkylthio, alkylsulfinyl, alkylsulfonyl, nitro, (substituted) amino, OH, alkoxy, alkynyloxy, (substituted) aralkoxy, halogen, haloalkyl, etc.] and salt thereof. EXAMPLE:2-(2-Methoxyphenyl)-5-methyl-4-(3-pyridyl)imidazole. USE:A cardiotonic agent, antithrombotic agent and anti-inflammatory agent having inhibitory effect on heart rate together. PREPARATION:For example, a compound expressed by formula II (either one of R<1> and R<2> is O and the other is NR<3>) is reacted with a compound expressed by the formula R<4>-CHO in the presence of ammonia or an ammonia donor to afford the aimed compound expressed by formula I.
