A duct is provided in the foamed plastics insulation of a refrigerator cabinet for accommodating electrical leads for components such as lamps or thermostats in the cabinet, the duct being taken through the rear wall of the cabinet and extending up to the connection of the lead with the component. As shown, a tube 10 is held in a recess 11 in the inner liner 2 by adhesive tapes 12, and insulation 7 is foamed around the liner in a mould 9, the ends of the tube being closed by plugs 13 during foaming. After foaming and removal of the plugs the front end 14 of recess 11 is apertured to permit communication between the tube and an enclosure which is defined by liner 2 and a cover plate 5 and accommodates electrical apparatus, the leads for such apparatus extending through tube 10 to the rear of the cabinet. In modifications, the recess 11 is so shaped that the tube 10 may be press-fitted therein (Fig. 5, not shown); an apertured cover plate is mounted on the outer end of tube 10 to support a distributer box (Fig. 9, not shown); and the inner liner is omitted, the tube being held in a recess in the mould during foaming (Fig. 10, not shown).
