摘要:PURPOSE:To obtain the titled compound useful as a synthetic intermediate for heterocyclic compounds in high yield under mild conditions, by reacting a specific cyanohydrin with a hydroperoxide in the presence of a ruthenium catalyst. CONSTITUTION:A cyanohydrin expressed by the formula (R<1> is aryl, alkenyl or heterocyclic ring) is reacted with a hydroperoxide expressed by the formula R<2>COOH (R<2> is alkyl, cycloalkyl or aralkyl) in the presence of a ruthenium catalyst, e.g. metallic ruthenium powder, to give the aimed compound expressed by the formula R<1>COCN. The reaction proceeds rapidly even at room temperature in many cases, and is carried at usually -20-+100 deg.C, preferably 0-80 deg.C. If the relation of the amount between the cyanohydrin and the hydroperoxide is excess in either one thereof, the reaction proceeds. However, the molar ratio between the cyanohydrin and the hydroperoxide is within 0.1-2 preferably 0.2-1 range.
